Rhane Daly Stevens1For a fifth time, North Bay’s Rhane Daly Stevens (pictured) has qualified for the World Karate Championship.

He won gold in his weight class in the Continuous Sparring division at the national championship this past weekend in Ottawa.

It’s his second straight Canadian title.

The Odyssee student was also fourth in the Point Sparring division and 9th in the Under Classical Kata division.

Daly Stevens has now qualified for the Worlds in Orlando, Florida in November.

He won bronze at last year’s event in Dublin, Ireland.

In high school sports, in NDA varsity girls soccer, Widdifield shutout Northern 4-0.

Four different Wildcats scored in the win.

And the NDA Track and Field Championship takes place today at Northern Secondary School in Sturgeon Falls.

The top three or four athletes in each event will qualify for NOSSA next week, again at Northern.

The OFSAA championship goes June 4th to 6th in Toronto.
