Your top local newsmaker of 2016

High hydro rates were making headlines all year long and hydro bills have taken top spot in our informal poll on the Top Newsmaker of 2016.

Hydro bills garnered 26 per cent of the 120 votes cast.

In second, with 18 per cent was the new Syrian families with third going to the 2018 World Women’s Curling Bid Committee, at 17 per cent.

Fourth goes to local Olympians Dominique Bouchard and Taylor Milne with 13 per cent.

Council as a whole, was fifth, with 10 per cent of the vote.
