A photo finish in our informal poll for the Top Local Sports Story of 2016.

Two stories battled it out for top spot.

Dominique Bouchard and Taylor Milne competing at the Rio Olympics came in first with 22 percent of the 153 votes.

One percentage point back in second was North Bay being named the host of the 2018 World Women’s Curling Championship.

With 18 per cent of the votes, third place goes to North Bay’s Colton Point being named MVP after Carleton Place won the CCHL Championship.
