fentanyl patches A bill authored by Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli comes up for debate at Queens Park on Thursday.  Fedeli says the idea for Bill 33 originated in North Bay after the success of the Fentanyl patch for patch program here. He says Pat Cliche, North Bay Police and the North Bay anti drug strategy developed this for the North Bay area and his bill calls for it to go province wide.  Fedeli says you can get a patch on the drug market for about 400 dollars and then sell it and the patch is an Oxycontin high.

He says his private members bill which is at 2nd reading  would mean you would have to exchange an old patch for a new one and doctors would have greater control over the patches.

Since private members bills are rarely adopted Fedeli was asked about government support and he says all parties are on board to date.

Fedeli says the bill still has to pass 2nd reading, go through the committee stage and pass final reading before going into law.

Fedeli says 15 deaths in North Bay have been linked to Fentanyl.
