The Toronto International Boat Show is coming up in a couple weeks and there’s plenty for local enthusiasts to check out too.

That’s the word from Show Manager Cynthia Hare.

“I would imagine up in North Bay there are so many boaters will all the lakes close by,” she said, “We’ve got 44 per cent of Canadians participate in boating and own 4.3 million boats, so they have it figured out that life is better with a boat.”

Hare also says you don’t have to win the lottery to own a boat, pointing out the show features everything from canoes and kayaks to sail boats, pontoon boats and more.

They also offer the latest in boating trends, free seminars including educational sessions and special guests like “Isaac” from the Love Boat TV show and Twiggy the Waterskiing Squirrel (pictured below), who offers up a water safety message for the kids.

She says they also have an indoor lake set up over an NHL sized ice pad.

“Come down and sign up for a free boat ride, canoeing, kayaking, peddle-boat rides, if you want to learn how to wakeboard,” she said, “we got some Crazy Canucks putting on a fantastic waterski and wakeboard shows.”

The Toronto International Boat Show takes place January 20th to 29th.
