apple slicesThe Health Unit is reiterating a call this week from Health Canada not to eat Sun Rich Fresh Foods apple slices and products containing sliced apples.

These products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

People are advised to throw out all recalled products or return them to the location where they were purchased.

Officials say even if the food does not look or smell spoiled, it can still make you sick.

Symptoms include vomiting, nausea, cramps, diarrhea, severe headache, constipation and fever.

They usually occur from 3 to 70 days after eating contaminated food.

Those most at risk to develop listeriosis are newborns, pregnant women and those who have a weakened immune system.
