paramedic challengeDefibrillators can save lives but not everyone has access to them since they cost around 8, 000 Dollars.

Team Nipissing EMS 2014 collaborated with Becel Ride for Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario to raise money so it can supply local public venues with Public Access Defibrillators (PAD). Jean-Guy Belzile one of the managers for EMS which looks over the District of Nipissing and he explained how important it is for the public to have access to a defibrillator and they’re also simple to use.

“It’s easy, it’s user friendly and it will save lives,” stated Belzile.

“So if the tools are out there, then people will reach out and help out as they’ve done in our district for eight saves so far.”

Belzile will be down in Toronto on May 31st with the other participants and they’ll ride 25km, 50kms or 75km.

Roger Menard will lead their team on the 75km route.

He was one of the survivors in the Nipissing District who benefited from having access to a defibrillator.
