The province is celebrating four centuries of cultural, social and economic contributions by the province’s Franco-Ontarian community by supporting 62 local tourist and cultural events, including one locally.

Over $47,000 is going to the Association française des municipalités de l’Ontario to host an event here in North Bay from September 16th to 18th.

It’s titled ‘‘Projet une municipalité, un artiste, une histoire francophone“.

The exhibit will profile neighbouring Francophone communities, giving them the opportunity to promote their Franco-Ontarian history and heritage.

It’s also about promoting their cultural and tourism activities and to offer products and package deals for visitors. 2015 marks the 400th anniversary of French explorer Samuel de Champlain’s first passage through Ontario, and our area.
