OPPOntario Provincial Police are cautioning drivers about an increased number of wildlife collisions on area highways.

In the last week, North Bay OPP have responded to nine crashes, with seven of them involving wildlife.

Police say motorists need to be on high alert, especially between 8 pm and midnight and from 5 am to 7 am.

They say scan the road ahead, use high beams where possible, watch your speed, don’t swerve suddenly, brake firmly if there’s an animal crossing or standing on the road and watch for more animals if you see one.
