And The Nipissing Volunteer Managers Network is taking this time to celebrate their volunteers. Katina Matheson is Community Coordinator at United Way and she says the Nipissing Volunteer Managers Network was created to find out what different organizations are doing for their volunteers, how they can grow their opportunities and how to engage their volunteers.

Matheson says there are 15 agencies involved including the United Way, The Aids Committee of North Bay, and The North Bay YMCA and they represent close to 2000 volunteers.

She says this National Volunteer week also has a theme and she say the theme is called “Ripple Effect” which she says means that one volunteer can make a small but significant difference.

Today is also the day the “Prime Ministers Volunteer Awards” starts looking for nominees. They are accepting nominations until June 30th. To nominate someone who you think should be recognized, head over to http://pm.gc.ca/eng/prime-ministers-volunteer-awards
