Police Board 2 (10)The monthly crime stats show an increase in the number of drug charges laid by North Bay Police in December.

In 2015 there were 12 compared to 9 in 2014.

Deputy Chief Scott Tod says it’s because of the work of the Street Crime Unit, as well as tips coming into police that they were able to make several big seizures.

He adds the drugs don’t come from North Bay, and the focus is on finding a way to stop them from entering the city.

Meantime, Tod says two categories stand out.

Overall, there were over 2,100 calls for service in the month, with 105 of those to investigate motor vehicle collisions.

25 people were injured in those instances.

Year over year, 2015 saw a bit of a drop in total criminal offences compared with 2014, including fewer sexual offences, assaults and break enter and thefts compared to 2014.
