Locked out Children’s Aid Society Workers in Nipissing and Parry Sound went to Queens Park on Wednesday to get their message out to MPP’s and the current dispute with the CAS came up during Question Period.

Debbie Hill, President, CUPE 2049 says they had good meetings with MPP’s and then the opposition called on the government to do more to get this dispute settled.

She says both Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli and Parry Sound MPP Norm Miller called on the Minister of Child and Family Services Michael Coteau to get more involved in ending this dispute.

Coteau said there is a process in place to settle this dispute as a previous one was in Peel.

She says she gets the point that the minister is reluctant to weigh in on collective bargaining between 2 parties but now is the time because there is a critical point that families are now at risk and something substantive has to be done by the government to end this dispute.

Hill says there were 12 meetings with MPP’s as well as a meeting with Coteau.
