North Bay PoliceNorth Bay Police responded to 242 calls for service over the long weekend with 12 people charged and arrested for a variety of offences including; voyeurism, possess child pornography, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats related to a domestic occurrence and more.

(Voyeurism and child porn charges)
A 49-year old North Bay man is facing charges of voyeurism, make child pornography and possession of child pornography.

City Police arrested the male on Friday following an investigation.

It is alleged the accused concealed a video camera in the bathroom of his residence and captured footage of a visiting female teenager while she was in his care during the daytime last summer.

Police are protecting the identity of the victim and are withholding the name of the accused.

(Dangerous Weapon charges)
A 29-year old North Bay male is facing several charges following an investigation into a theft and threat complainant around 7:30pm on Friday.

Police say a grocery store employee witnessed the accused take food items from the store without paying for them.

They say two employees confronted the male about the theft outside the store, when the accused pulled out a knife and threatened them before he fled the scene on foot.

Police located the male shortly afterwards at Maplewood and Algonquin where he was arrested.

A search also revealed that he was in possession of a pocket knife, one gram of suspected marijuana and food items.

John Visca is charged with one count of theft under $5000, two counts of uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two other charges.

(Fentanyl Patch)
North Bay Police have arrested and charged a 24-year old woman after a complaint about a suspected counterfeit Fentanyl patch turned in to a local pharmacy.

Police say it is alleged on January 26th the accused was working as a personal support worker at a retirement home removed a Fentanyl patch from a 91-year old resident.

Police say the accused replaced it with a suspected non-medicated counterfeit patch and took a new patch from her.

When the victim returned the suspected counterfeit Fentanyl patch to her pharmacy to renew her prescription, the pharmacist recognized the patch as a fake and reported the findings to police.

The woman is charged with one count of theft under $5000 and one count of possession of a Fentanyl patch without prescription.

(Four facing Drug Charges)
North Bay Police have arrested four people after an investigation by the Street Crime Unit, which included a traffic stop and the execution of two CDSA search warrants.

The charges included trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of morphine and more.

On Thursday around 4:30pm, 27-year old Jeremy Meikle of North Bay was arrested following a traffic stop on Algonquin Avenue and Highway 17.

Later that same day around 10pm, 30-year old Laura Naismith was arrested following the execution of a search warrant at her Sundown Ridge residence.

Just after midnight on Friday, 45-year old Marc Andrew Gelinas was arrested at his North Bay home on Justin Street following the execution of a search warrant.

At the same time at the same address, 28-year old Patricia Krystal Jean was also arrested.

As a result of the searches conducted during this investigation, North Bay Police seized approximately $20,000 in Canadian currency, approximately 49 grams of suspected cocaine, 40 grams of suspected morphine, 4 grams cannabis resin, and one motor vehicle.

(Assault investigation)
Police are looking into an investigation of an assault that took place on Saturday.

It is alleged two women were walking on Norwood Avenue following a night out at a nightclub on Delaware Avenue when there were approached by three unknown women, also on foot.

Police say a verbal exchanged occurred between the two groups and a woman from the group of three assaulted one from the group of two.

The friend tried to intervene and was also assaulted.

The victims sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police would like the public’s help in locating the unknown females who are described as between 19-20 years old, white, all with brown hair of varying lengths, between 5’3″ and 5-6″ about 130lbs.
