A warning from North Bay Police about open water off the boat launch in Callander.

Police say a local towing company reported the concern to them after a vehicle went through the ice about 300 feet off the boat launch in Callander.

The public is advised to avoid the marked and cordoned off area.

 

City police are reminding drivers to remove valuable items and lock their vehicles after a number or reports of damage and thefts from vehicles this month.

Some vehicles were unlocked while others had windows broken.

Cash, clothes, a wallet, purse, ring, sunglasses and loose change were all taken.

Incidents happened around the city, from Progress Court to McIntyre Street East, Cassells Street to Sunset Blvd and more.

 

A 24 year old city man has been charged with fail to remain and public mischief after an investigation into an abandoned vehicle that went off Wallace Road near Trout Lake Road and down a steep incline yesterday morning (Sunday).

Police say a man reported his vehicle stolen, then later admitted it wasn’t taken and that he was driving it at the time of the single-vehicle crash.

There was extensive damage to the vehicle and guardrails.
