S.T.O.P. Program is Finished

The OPP and the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs have for the last 20 years had a snowmobile trail officer program in place.

That has been discontinued.

In a release the two organizations have decided it was no longer feasible to continue the program. 

Basically, volunteers were appointed as S.T.O.P. officers and in a release the two organizations have decided it was no longer feasible to continue the program.

The two say they will continue to work together on promoting safe snowmobiling on the trails.

Meantime, the North Bay Snowmobilers Club will have a sledders appreciation day today from noon to 4:30 in the Portage parking lot.

There will be music, a bonfire and hot beverages.

Organizers say at 3:30pm, they’ll be trying to get a continuous line of snowmobiles do a circle of Trout Lake.
