Pothole season is here.

Chair of Engineering and Works Councillor Tanya Vrebosch says there’s an abundance of potholes and they’re typical for this time of year and more prevalent in the north due to the colder climate.

She says if you notice one call Public Works at 474-4340 and detail the location and size, because the city looks to work on the largest potholes first.

Vrebosch says they’ve already fixed 700 this year.

There were over 9,000 two years ago due to the conditions that year, while last year the number went down to 6,300.

Vrebosch says they are using a new machine that uses hot asphalt instead of cold which cuts down on the maintenance needed to fix the pothole.
