City Hall genericThere will be more details soon on timelines and structure details, but North Bay will be home to a hospice in the near future.

City Council has agreed to sell a piece of land off John Street to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice group.

Deputy Mayor Sheldon Forgette says there was a big need for a hospice in the city and for the region.

He says it was the LHIN’s decision to choose this group’s proposal over a different recommendation with the site near the hospital.

Forgette says it’s more secluded and not in a hospital type setting.

He adds people in the region need a place to go to relax in the last days of their life.
