police lightsNorth Bay OPP are reminding everyone of the dangers of lakes during the winter months and that ice conditions can change very quickly.

This after a volunteer was grooming a snowmobile trail on a pond, about 1.5 km south of Trout Lake yesterday (Sunday) and the ice let go.

Police say the groomer sunk to the bottom while snowmobilers helped the volunteer driver and brought the person to the highway.

The driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The area where the groomer went through the ice has been fenced off.
