Gas_Card_Giveaway_210A city councillor here in North Bay is going over options after Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus last week called on northern municipalities to get behind the fight for gas fairness.

Mike Anthony was behind a motion last year that asked The Competition Bureau to look into the price of gas in North Bay.

They responded saying there wasn’t enough evidence to continue further.

Anthony says gas prices are still an issue locally.

He says the price of gas is one more challenge we can’t afford in the north and the North Bay area.

Anthony says according to their bylaws they can’t file the same motion, but he’s looking into the possibility of supporting the gas fairness idea.

He also says it could be time to revisit an idea used in the Maritimes, where gas prices are set regularly on certain date and you know when they’re changing it and what the price is changing to.
