BonhommeOver 1000 people are expected to take in the opening ceremony for the 53rd annual Carnaval des Compagnons today.

Program Coordinator Lou Gagné says students from all the French schools in North Bay will perform musical numbers and dances.

As well, Bonhomme will make his appearance and the torch will be lit. Gagné says it is always a great show.

Following the ceremony there will be a family skate at the Gardens.

The ceremony starts at 1pm and the opening dinner goes tonight at 4:30pm at Les Compagnons on Dudley Avenue.
