Boston Marathon(Photo courtesy @BostonMarathon)  At least six area residents are joining 30,000 other people who are entered in the 120th Boston Marathon today (Monday).

The local entrants include Gerald Brazeau, Angela Giddens, Ahmed Jouar and Neil Mccallum from North Bay, Lesley-Anne Lyons from Corbeil and Daniel Gingras from Verner.

The race began with just a handful of runners on April 19, 1897.

This year’s edition is drawing competitors from 99 countries.

Cheering them on today will be an estimated one-million spectators amid tight security.
