Labour Market GroupThe results are in from the Labour Market Group‘s EmployerOne survey.

201 surveys were completed by employers in the Nipissing and Parry Sound Districts last year, with officials saying that’s a significant increase over 2014.

In terms of results, 62 percent of respondents feel the availability of qualified workers in the district is fair to poor.

Executive Director Stacie Fiddler says it’s really a problem in some of the smaller centres where they have to get people to come and then stay.

Meantime, 52 percent of respondents plan on hiring in the next year, however the projected number of hirings is lower.

Fiddler was asked what is done with the information in the survey.

She says the information goes into the Labour Market plan which is their action strategy to address workforce development issues in the community.

Fiddler says this is the 2nd year they’ve done the survey.
