Dominique Bouchard2A former North Bay Y Titan will be swimming at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.

North Bay’s Dominique Bouchard finished second in the 100m backstroke at the Olympic Trials last night (Wednesday) in Toronto.

Her time was just under a minute at 59.96 seconds, achieving nomination standing.

Bouchard is also entered in the 200m event which goes Sunday.

 

titanslogoMeantime, 26 North Bay Titans took part in a long course swim meet in Sudbury last weekend.

Ryan Tom had 5 first place finishes while Steve Cholette and Megan Tom also had first place finishes.

Second place finishes went to Sheldon Kilroy and Regine Wyss.

Third place finishes were earned by Ayden Michaud, Gavin Wall and Jenna Wall.

The following swimmers achieved personal best times: Leah Dawson, William Fraser, Joshua Gough, Jack Hachkowski, Julie Jonescu, Madison Piper, Chloe Popp, Julia Rivet, Quinn Schroeder, Fionna Truong, Katelyn Warner and Emily Yates.

Congratulations to Nikita Ouellette, Madilyn Reaume, Drew Stephenson and Ethan Yates for competing in their first long course meet.

The Titans next meet is the Division 3 Team Championships held at the Markham Pan Am Aquatic Centre April 29 to May 1.
