The group Stop The Super School was rallying this morning (Monday) at Lakeshore and Judge and they’ll do so before tonight’s public meeting on the future of six North Bay schools too.

Retired local principal Garth Goodhew says they’re encouraged both the ARC and senior administration recommend a secondary school for both the north and south ends of the city.

But, he says the final decision rests with the trustees.

“The final vote will be taken by 9 people. Our job is to convince at least 5 of those 9 people that having a super school is not a good idea,” he says.

The board votes June 27th.

Tonight’s public meeting goes at 6:30 at West Ferris Secondary School, one of the schools being looked at.

The others include Chippewa and Widdifield secondary schools along with E.T. Carmichael, E.W. Norman and W.J. Fricker public schools.

The Stop The Super School group includes parents, former NNDSB career employees, community members and academics from North Bay and area.
