A step back in time for Voyageurs Days’ 20th anniversary.

Organizers are celebrating 20 years with the bands who help make the annual event in Mattawa such a success. Head of Voyageurs days, Jacques Begin says Trooper, The Headpins & Toronto are all on the Saturday night bill but the entire weekend will be one big party.
“There will be bingos and dinners everywhere, the business community’s open doors policy. Children and sporting events as well. Truly this is Mattawa showcasing itself.”
Begin also mentioned the brand new Big Joe Mufferaw statute set to be unveiled ahead of the Friday night shows. He says the old one was rotting away from the inside and needed replacing. He says the new one is two feet taller and made of 48, 8×8 beams, hand carved to look like the old one. Begin says the son of Stompin’ Tom Connors, Taw will be on hand for the unveiling and will sing his father’s iconic song “Big Joe Mufferaw” in dedication.
