Chief Shawn Devine

North Bay’s new Police Chief is Shawn Devine.

He was sworn-in today (Friday) in a change of command ceremony.

It was announced back in September that Devine would be taking over the reigns from now-retired Chief Paul Cook.

Devine has been a city police officer since 1988.

Devine says he’s honoured and humbled with the community turnout at Friday’s ceremony.

He says it’s time to get down to work and focus on the big issues including sustainability in policing and consultation with the community.

Meantime, Deputy Chief Scott Tod was sworn in to his new role too.

Tod is a former Deputy Commissioner of the OPP.

Devine says he can learn a lot from Tod through his experience with the OPP.

Devine says like his predecessor Paul Cook, he plans on supporting and attending many community events.
