A two day provincial conference on changing emergency care begins today at the Ramada Pinewood Park Resort.

The local DNSSAB EMS chief Jean Guy Belzile says medical and mechanical personnel along with medical communicators will be here from across the province.

Among the guest speakers will be a medical manufacturing team from Saskatoon.

“A design team will speak to us so we can look at their ambulance design and attempt to customize 1 type of ambulance that can fit all,” he says.

Belzile says there will be presentations on changes to the ambulance act and the coordination of transferring critical care patients to surgeons in their areas.

He says conferences like this are invaluable for those in the field.

“Our paramedics don’t have the opportunity very often to hear from suppliers and educators because cost is always a concern to go to conferences elsewhere,” he says.
