Tonight’s North Bay Battalion game against the Ottawa 67’s is the annual Pink in the Rink Night, in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.

There are a number of fundraisers, including a silent auction for the pink Battalion jersey’s that will be worn by the Troops during the game.

Meantime, the Battalion are anxious to put a 7-3 loss to Peterborough on Monday in the rear view mirror tonight.

After earning 7 points in their first 4 games they have none in their last two.

Coach Stan Butler says they need to play better tonight against Ottawa, especially in their own end.

“Anytime you give up 7 goals you’re not going to have much of a chance to win. I thought we played well offensively, but we need to be better defensively and obviously our goaltending has got to be stronger, as well,” he says.

Meantime, Butler continues to tinker with the roster.

“I think we’re trying to make decisions based on fact instead of emotion. We want to make sure we make the right decisions with players. As we get to that point where we think we can make a good decision one way or the other we’ll make them,” he says.

Butler says the team has released forward Jacob Ball while Daniil Vertiy should be back in the lineup tonight.

North Bay has their busiest week of the season as they play three games in the next 3 and a half days.

On top of tonight’s game against Ottawa at Memorial Gardens, the Troops visit Barrie on Saturday and host Hamilton on Sunday afternoon.

Broadcast time tonight is 6:55 pm on Country 600 CKAT.
