The North Bay Battalion broke their 8-game losing streak with an 8-2 win over the Kingston Frontenacs.

The Troops were propelled to the win thanks to a two-goal performance from Brett McKenzie and a Gordie Howe hat trick from Daniel Walker who also chipped in two goals.

Making his 2nd OHL start, rookie Christian Purboo made 29 saves for his first OHL win.

Head Coach Stan Butler was pleased with his team’s effort.

“It’s nice for a game to go our in favour for a while. Through this losing streak, we’ve had some games we played pretty well in and then we didn’t get results.”

Brandon Coe, Rhys Forhan, Jesse Saban, and Brad Chenier chipped in with goals as well.

The win was slightly overshadowed by a trade as the Troops sent defenceman Brady Lyle to the Owen Sound Attack for goaltender Christian Propp.

He was acquired by the Attack earlier Sunday from the Barrie Colts.

Butler says Propp is a big goaltender, born in 1999 and should be between the pipes here for a few seasons.

In 37 OHL games, Propp, who turned 18 on March 27, has a won-lost-extended record of 8-22-2, a goals-against average of 3.80 and a save percentage of .886.
