Quite the honour for North Bay North Stars head coach David Nadeau this past weekend.

He was inducted into the Western Mustangs Sports Hall of Fame.

In the late 70’s he led all Mustang scorers in his rookie year, won MVP honours that season and was elected captain, the youngest in Mustangs history.

During his career at Western, Nadeau was amongst the all-time leaders in career points with 61 goals and 75 assists.

Nadeau, a Superior Court Justice here in North Bay, has been head coach of the North Stars hockey program for childeren and adults with special needs for the past 7 years.

“David is a passionate and enthusiastic coach for our program” said North Stars manager Sharon Fung. “He has a natural ability to connect with the players and to be able to adjust his teaching and coaching style to suit the needs of a diverse group of athletes. He is the cornerstone of our program and a large part of its success and we feel very fortunate to have him as part of our coaching staff.

“Being inducted into the Western Mustangs Sports Hall of Fame is the culmination of my lifelong love of hockey and sports,” said Nadeau.

He played hockey at Western for the Mustangs from 1976-78, 1980-81, and 1982-83.
