Two BC residents are facing weapons and drug charges in North Bay.

They were arrested by the Street Crime Unit and Emergency Response Team on Tuesday.

A 32 year old man and 43 year old woman are both facing several charges each, including possession of a loaded firearm, and possession for the purpose of trafficking in fentanyl, cocaine and heroin.

North Bay Police Det. Const. Matthew Parker says they uncovered items at a residence in Powassan as well as in a vehicle during a takedown near a bank on Stockdale Road.

“This the largest amount of Fentanyl seized by North Bay Police. Fentanyl is an extreme concern for us. But also with the weapons we located this creates an extra concern,” he says.

The takedown occurred without incident.

“There was no resist to arrest. They were all co-operative because they could see what they were facing. We’d gone through how we’re going to do this and eliminate any safety issues for pedestrians,” he says.

Drugs with a street value of about $65,000 were seized.

Police say the B-C- based street gang was taking over the operation of the drug trade in the region.
