Police (North Bay)The North Bay Police Service remained busy throughout the month of November.

The latest stats revealed they have received 23,297 calls for service over the year, which is 1,355 more calls to this point last year.

But, Deputy Police Chief Shawn Devine says their total criminal offences are down, including lower numbers in major crime areas such as sexual assaults and assaults.

Devine says he hopes those aren’t just a blip on the screen and the message for safety is being heard by the public.

He adds unfortunately there were 102 calls to investigate motor vehicle accidents and 19 people were injured in the month.

Devine says that’s a month which didn’t have any snow and which makes those numbers stand out.

He also says they are continuing to focus on web and telephone scams, which are becoming more frequent.
