summer in the parkA skateboard park, email surveys, a new website, a booth showing off the history of the city and more content for kids and adults were presented in Thursday night’s Summer in the Park Open House.

People came down to offer suggestions to the Summer in the Park Committee about what they want to see in upcoming festivals.

One topic, however, seemed to dominate the floor, local entertainment.

That’s Holly Cunningham, the managing director of the Near North Media Lab and a board member of CBACH.

She says she liked another suggestion brought to the floor, having different art driven sub-committees on the board.

Meantime, Jake Thomas from Jake and The Fundamentals made a suggestion to the committee.

Thomas says he wants the festival to be family orientated with more local entertainment.

Chair of the Summer in the Park Committee John Strang says they have added a third day to the festival, which will have locally driven entertainment.

He says they have also invited members of the local arts community the join them in helping with the event.

If you were unable to make it last night you can still make a suggestion by emailing John Strang at johnstrang@unac.ca or by visiting their website.
