Canadore light therapy1Seasonal Affective Disorder.

It usually hits this time of year when there’s less sunlight and more darkness outside.

Canadore College has come up with something that might help those impacted.

They’ve created a Light Therapy Lounge.

There is full spectrum lighting, carpeting, tables to study or relax and walls painted in hues associated with peace, harmony and balance.

The idea came from the college’s alumni association and the room is possible thanks to a financial contribution from The Co-operators Group Auto and Home Insurance.

Blair White is the company’s director of group sales.

He says people enjoy natural light and when not possible the Light Therapy Room comes in.

College officials say the launch of this room is the start of several initiatives that focus on mental wellness and health.

Vice President Shawn Chorney says a bright room like this will draw people in and they will benefit from the therapy that a bright room like this will provide.
