New funding is helping with newcomer recruitment locally.

$25,000 is coming from the province while the city and it’s partners are each providing $2,500.

Economic Development Officer and Immigration Lead Tanya Bédard says the city’s online immigration portal is undergoing multiple updates.

They include the creation of new recruitment assistance tools for local employers, first days checklists and other settlement resources.

There’s also more employer engagement sessions coming up this year.

The portal was created six years ago to provide easy access to local information for prospective and recently settled newcomers.

Bedard says the portal continues to be the leading recruitment support tool in North Bay’s ongoing recruitment efforts.
