apartment rentThe apartment building on the corner of Trout Lake Road and McKay Drive is being converted into a condominium complex.

Council gave it’s approval to move forward with the project.

Chair of Community Services Mark King says this will allow the owner to sell off the units instead of renting them, but he says there’s going to be an issue when it comes to water costs for the buyers.  He says due to the 60-40 fixed variable split, people in these buildings will be paying more for their water because it is regarded as a commercial building.

King says they had an opportunity to change that when they were in discussions about water meters.

He says it should be something they address for 2017 to help those commercial building owners.
