Theatre, Dance, Music, and Literature.

The first annual Children’s Festival gets underway this weekend at the Capitol Centre.

Theatre Festival Coordinator Andrew Palangio says many local companies are bringing activities that focus on child education.

Some include Zumba, yoga, storytelling, giant Jenga, a bouncy castle, indoor carnival as well as indigenous cultural activities.

There will also be a music workshop in the Galaxy Circle Lounge and an art workshop in the basement.

Palangio says they wanted to do this event to showcase all the different child-focused activities available in North Bay.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at capitolcentre.org.

There’s also a free movie at 2pm (Shrek).

Topping off the festival on Sunday at 2 pm, the children of the Next Generation Leahy will perform on the Capitol Centre stage.

Tickets for Next Generation Leahy are $20 for adults and $10 for children.
