A big tournament win for the St Joseph-Scollard Hall senior girls volleyball team (pictured above).

They went undefeated to win the Scarlett and Gold tournament this past weekend.

24 teams took part in the tournament, which was played at Nipissing University.

In OCAA women’s volleyball, Canadore is first in the East Division with with Durham College, with a record of 10-1.

The Panthers defeated La Cite of Ottawa 3-0 on Sunday.

Caitlin Hebert of North Bay was the top point-getter for Canadore with 13, including 10 kills and 3 serve aces.

Eric Bowman had 14 points for Canadore while Shawn Hoffman (pictured right) had 12.

 

In men’s basketball, Canadore lost 92-71 to La Cite on Saturday.

Tarez Hepburn led the Panthers scoring with 23 points with Isse Ibrahim scoring 18.

Canadore’s record stands at 3-9.

Powassan Voodoos_210In the NOJHL, the Soo Thunderbirds fired 60 shots on the Powassan net in a 5-4 overtime win over the Voodoos Sunday.

Four different Powassan players scored in the loss, including Tyler Peters, Eric Champagne, Jake Staples and Kyle Moore.

Garret Forrest made 55 saves in the loss.

 

NU lakersAnd recapping OUA hockey on the weekend, the Nipissing women played twice and won both games.

They defeated the University of Toronto 3-1 and scored a 6-1 win over Ryerson.

The Nipissing men, meantime, played first place McGill and lost 5-1.
