Morale is good at Widdifield Secondary School.

That from Principal Lisa O’Kane who says even though the school is closing at the next of the next school year (2018/19), they still have important work to do.

“I have a T-shirt that says we’re Widdifield until we’re not. We are Wildcat loud and proud. And we move forward. We still say this is the best school to send your child to for a foundation education regardless of where they’re going to go in the next few years,” she says.

O’Kane says the impending closure is sad and it will be difficult to stay positive.

“And it’s going to be a challenge. We believe so much in what we do in this building. We go through our daily work regardless. Our staff is pretty incredible and all the staffs are in all the schools. It will be fine,” she says.

She also says there are still a lot of unanswered questions about the secondary school consolidation, but that information will be rolling out to let everyone know what the game plan is.

Earlier this week the school hosted a grade 8 information night, with a full house on hand.
