A new business is coming to the city’s Airport Industrial Park.

Last night, council approved the sale of three acres of municipal land to Canada Meat for $123,000.

Councillor Derek Shogren, who is on the Invest North Bay board, hopes this is the start of more businesses setting up shop at the airport.

“It’s got multi-uses. The airport in conjunction with the city and Invest North Bay has been actively trying to get businesses to the airport, to buy land at the airport and to create jobs,” he says.

There’s no specifics yet on when Canada Meat will open, or how many jobs will be created.

Shogren says this proves that different types of businesses can be located at the airport.

“This is a great first start for Invest North Bay, the council and Canada Meat which will bring jobs and investment to North Bay,” he says.
