lhin logoThey are called Patient Order Sets and basically they provide updated medical information on patients as they are treated in hospital.

It’s one way the Northeast LHIN is making the jump from paper to electronic and it solves the problem of having to read doctors handwriting.

Communications Officer with the Northeast Local Health Integration Network Kathleen Bain says the sets eliminate that problem where mistakes can be made.

The Mattawa General Hospital now has Patient Order Sets.  Infact, there are now 16 hospitals that offer this service with another 8 expected to follow suit in the coming months.

The Chief Nursing Officer at the Mattawa hospital  Tanya Belanger says the technology allows them to improve patient safety and outcomes and incorporate best practices.

The CEO of the LHIN Louise Paquette says this technology aligns with LHIN efforts to enhance quality and patient centred care.
