Nipissing University is marking International Women’s Week with a series of events centred on the theme of Transforming Justice.

Senator Kim Pate, a member of the Order of Canada and nationally renowned advocate, has developed and taught courses on Prison Law, Human Rights and Social Justice and Defending Battered Women on Trial.

She delivers the keynote address tonight (Wednesday) at 7 pm in the Nipissing Theatre.

Meantime, as a part of International Women’s Week, the Canadian Federation of University Women North Bay is presenting the eighteenth “Gift of Reading” at Woodland Public School today.

Officials say in an increasingly technological world, good old fashioned bedtime stories are still one of the best ways to bolster a child’s reading skills.

They’re presenting each senior kindergarten child at the school with a “keeper book” to take home.
