Bob interviews Mayor AlMayor Al McDonald is reacting to a couple of good news stories for the city and the region this week.

Columbia Forest Products announcing they plan on reopening their Rutherglen veneer mill in the late first quarter of 2016.

McDonald says the global economy is starting to turn, the Canadian dollar is low and house building in the southern U-S is starting to take off.

He says the global economy has an impact locally and if forestry and mining both come back, they’ll be strong in 2016 and 17.

In terms of the end of the ONTC lockout, McDonald says it’s good news for the city.

He goes on to say now it’s time to build the shops and bring in more work, to grow the workforce.

He says that’s up to the parties involved, but the city will assist where they can from an economic development perspective.
