refugee family play roomEverything is ready to go for the arrival of the first of two Syrian refugee families to North Bay.

Mayor Al McDonald says the community has really come through with this initiative.

Over $60,000 has been raised and he says it shows how caring and generous local residents are.

The first family includes a single mother and her 9 children.

McDonald says they’ve been told they can be given anywhere from 3 days to 10 days notice of their arrival, but the house is set up and everything is ready in terms of supports.

Meantime, McDonald says they haven’t seen a profile yet for the second family, so they’re taking a wait and see approach.
