A Labour Ministry mediator will be assisting with negotiations between CUPE workers in Mattawa and the town next week and the union is hopeful that helps reach an agreement.

Talks are scheduled for Tuesday.

CUPE officials say more than a dozen inside and outside workers have been without a contract since December 2016.

They include licensing and permits, water and sewage, landfill, parks, recreation, and roads.

The union says a strike or lockout deadline has not been set.
