The North Bay Battalion are now undefeated in five straight home games after a 2-1 overtime victory against the Mississauga Steelheads last night (Thursday).

Zach Poirier got the opening goal on the Troops 2nd shot of the game – and Captain Mike Amadio got the game winner on the 20th shot of the game in the extra period.

Battalion Head Coach Stan Butler says despite the win they didn’t play the way he would’ve liked.

The Battalion don’t have much time to savor the victory as they host the Niagara IceDogs tonight in the last pre-Christmas break game at Memorial Gardens.

It’s the third straight win overall for North Bay who are now one point behind Niagara in the Eastern Conference for 5th place.

Butler says it was a big win for his squad.

Jake Smith made 26 saves on 27 shots for his 11th win of the year.

Butler says Smith was the main reason for the win.

The Troops are undefeated in regulation in their last four picking up 7 points in that span. Catch tonight’s game (Friday) on Country-600 CKAT broadcast time at 6:35pm
