cassellholmeA step closer to the potential redevelopment of Cassellholme.

City Council has approved two recommendations aimed at moving the process forward.

One of those is to authorize the Mayor to sign a non-binding letter of intent into the investigation of the potential transition of Cassellholme.

It would see Cassellholme move into the hands of an independent not-for-profit.

The second recommendation is to use a third party professional to analyze and make recommendations on the process.

Chair of Community Services Mark King says they have wanted to move forward with this for a while but there have been obstacles.

He says part of that is the $60-million cost to complete a redevelopment as well as other municipalities who want to break away from being a part of the Cassellholme Board.

He says the option is there for that to happen.
