A tentative Physician Services Agreement is being voted on this weekend by doctors across Ontario, including those from the North Bay area.

Ontario Medical Association President Dr Virginia Walley says there are plenty of benefits with the four year agreement.

They include stability for the profession, patient care and it provides for nearly twice the amount of funding in the system.

Dr Walley says that will help them provide much needed services that a growing and aging population requires.

She says over the past two years that there hasn’t been an agreement in place, the province has been making healthcare-related decisions without their input. “We’ll get back to a stable situation, physicians helping to lead healthcare redesign in the province, a system where there’s adequate funding for medical services.”

Doctors are voting Sunday afternoon at the OMA General Meeting in Toronto.
