City Council has given the green light for two community improvement plan applications. Councillor Derek Shogren says they’re both in and around the airport.

“Canada Meat, a new company took advantage of the program to the tune of over $25,000. Voyageur Airways is looking to expand and will receive $21,000,” Shogren says.

North Bay Mayor Al McDonald says the expansion at Voyageur Airways has already happened with $2.75 million in provincial funding and 40 new jobs.

He expects details to come soon on the plans by Canada Meat Group.

The community improvement plan program offers rebates, reductions in tipping fees and tax assistance.
